Scouting report
Joined eBay in 1998 when it had a few dozen employees and left in 2008 with tens of thousands, having turned an auction site into proof that strangers would transact online at scale, and having bought PayPal in 2002, which mattered more to the internet than the auctions did. She later ran HP through its split into HP Inc and HPE.
Curator’s note
Made online payment between strangers normal, which everything after assumes.
