Designed CLU, which introduced abstract data types, iterators and a serious treatment of exceptions, and which shows up in the ancestry of most modern languages. The Liskov substitution principle is the L in SOLID. Also did foundational work on Byzantine fault tolerance with Miguel Castro. Turing Award, 2008.
