Scouting report
Tried to sell snowboards online in 2004, found the available software unusable, and wrote his own in Ruby on Rails, early enough that he became a Rails core contributor while doing it. Shopify grew into the platform behind millions of storefronts and remains one of the largest Ruby deployments anywhere, with Liquid, its templating language, released as open source.
Curator’s note
The rare public-company CEO whose GitHub profile is not decorative.
