Co-invented differential privacy, which gave a mathematical definition to the amount of information a data release leaks about any one person, replacing a field of ad-hoc anonymisation that kept being broken. It is now in the US Census, Apple’s telemetry and Google’s. She also co-authored early work on proof-of-work and on algorithmic fairness.
