Scouting report

Founded Stripe with his brother John in 2010, when accepting a card online meant weeks of paperwork with a bank, and replaced it with an API you could integrate in an afternoon. The company set the standard for what developer documentation is expected to look like, and open-sourced Sorbet, a gradual type checker for Ruby now used well beyond Stripe.

Curator’s note

Made the payments industry answer to developers rather than procurement.
